Dawn Marie Barkley

Dawn Marie Barkley, 53 of Sioux City passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016 at a Sioux City hospital surrounded by her family after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City. Rev. David Hemann will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. and a Vigil service at 7:00 all at the Church. Dawn was born July 22, 1962 in Moorhead, MN; she was the daughter of Max and Betty (Oakleaf) Mills.
Dawn graduated from North High School and then married Larry Barkley April 4, 1981. She managed Taco Johns for 17 years until her twins were born and then was a stay at home mom until the kids were in school and she worked as a teacher’s aide.
Dawn was a member of St Michael Catholic Church. She loved being a mom and attending her children’s activities.
Survivors include her 4 children: Jessica Barkley, Jake Barkley, Megan Barkley all of Sioux City and Mack Barkley of Hinton, IA; her sister: Becky Roberge of Fargo, ND; 2 brothers: Glen Mills (Sherry) of Battle Lake, MN, Joe Mills (Teri) of Sioux City; a grandson: Mason White.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, her son Nicholas Barkley who died in 2000 and her sister Carolyn Simonsen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland.
