Corwin W. Bauerly, 80 of Sioux City passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016 at his residence. Per Corwin’s wishes, his body has been cremated and memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church. Rev. Jeffrey Swanson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Corwin was born February 6, 1936 in Hinton, IA; he was the son of Floyd and Marie (Harding) Bauerly. Corwin graduated from Westfield High School where he was on the school basketball team. He married Janice P. Melvin February 13, 1969 in Sioux City. Corwin retired from Sioux Tools after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and had taught Sunday school there with his wife and daughter during the 1980’s. Corwin enjoyed yard work, refinishing wood furniture and attending the children’s activities. He also enjoyed country music and dancing and he bowled in leagues for several years. Survivors include his wife Janice of Sioux City; his children: David Bauerly (Kerril) of Tonganoxie, KS, Darby Stegh (Scott) of Fenton, MO, step sons James Melvin (Tracy)of Cheyenne, WY and G. Douglas Melvin of Cheyenne, WY; a sister: Mercedes Dreas (Ronald) of Aurora, CO; his grandchildren: Alan Bauerly, Kelli Neal, Katie Melvin, Taylor Stegh and Emily Stegh; 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Corwin was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father in law: Robert and Viola Stone, his brother Darwin Bauerly, 2 brothers in law: Richard Stone and Thomas Hass, 2 sisters in law: Lorraine Bowman and Norma Hoffman and a nephew: Lane Bauerly The family would like to express special thanks to the many doctors and nurses, the Palliative Unit at Unity Choice Hospital, and for Hospice of Siouxland for the excellent care they gave to Corwin.
