Kevin D. May, 59, of Jefferson, SD passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 16, 2016 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Merrill Mueller and Reverend Jeff Vore officiating. Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow service at McCook Lake Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at

Kevin, also known as ‘Trapper’, was born December 16, 1956 in Sioux City, IA the son of James and Margaret (DeLaughter) May. He graduated from Sioux City West High School in 1975. Kevin worked for Prince Hydraulics for over 40 years. He was a true outdoorsman, loving to trap and fish. He loved teaching his family special quotes such as “off like a herd of turtles in a dust storm” and “be cool, stay in school”. Kevin’s family was very important to him, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife Kathy May; children: Lori (Scott) Woodward and Suzanne Lambert; grandchildren: Tanner, Taylor, and Trevor Lambert, Jackson and Max Faber, and Zach and Ali Woodward; step mom: Norma May; brothers: Craig and Corey May; sisters: Karla (John) Mayo, Kelli (Phil) Burrell, and Nicole (Scott) Bocian, David (Tina) Janssen; nieces and nephews: Tyler May, Jeremy (Courtney) Mayo, Marcia Mayo, Kyle Gant, Chancellor Gant, Grant Bocian, Kolby Bocian, Melinda Buhman , Amber Horn, and Zach Horn ; several great nieces and nephews; and his devoted companion Duke.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law Andy Lambert. In the honor of Kevin wear blue jeans if you choose.
