Charles Henry Condon

Charles Henry “Chuck” Condon, 83 of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday May 8, 2016 at a local care facility after a long bout with prostate cancer.

Services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rev. Roger Linnan will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday with the family present from 5:30 – 8:00 P.M. and there will be a Vigil service at 7:00 P.M. all at the Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Chuck was born August 18, 1932 in Sioux City, Iowa; he was the son of Charles Harrison and Dorothy Marie (Metz) Condon. Charles graduated from Central High School in 1950 and attended Iowa State University for two years before serving in the U.S. Army for 2 years during the Korean Conflict.

In 1953, he married Patricia Kay Smith at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City. Chuck was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. To this union were born 8 children, all of whom attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Heelan High School. Chuck was a devout Catholic.

Chuck owned and operated Condon Motor Co. for many years before his retirement in 1997.

Chuck was a heavy duty truck dealer, as was his father and represented White Motor and Freightliner Trucks for many years.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Monahan Post # 64 of the American Legion, Isaac Walton League, The Iowa Auto Dealers Association where he served on the Legislative Committee, The American Truck Dealers Association and The National Auto Dealers Association. Charles was a founding member of the South Dakota Grain & Livestock Trucking and served on the board of the Truckers Day Convention for many years.

Chuck was a lifelong hunter and was one of the original turkey hunters. He enjoyed many trips to hunt turkeys in Gordon, NE and pheasants in South Dakota where he had many customers that became longtime friends. He maintained a second residence in Okoboji, IA since 1971 and he and Pat enjoyed entertaining and spending time there with their children and friends.

Survivors include his wife Patricia; 8 children: Mark Condon (Shelly) , Steve Condon (Barb), Lisa Davidson (George), David Condon (Debbie), Amy Rus (Jeff) all of Sioux City, Christy Goeden (Bill) of McCook Lake, SD, Dan Condon (Jen) of Spokane, WA, Becky Condon (Ronnie) of Sioux City; 19 grandchildren: Matt, Alex, Cassidy, Kip, Heath, Adam, Amanda, Jessie, William, Joshua, Carleigh, Holly, Katie, Bo, Eric, Andrew, Desiree, Jake and Tyler, 7 great grandchildren; his sisters: Susie Feathers (Pat) and Kathleen “Honey” Saxe all of Sioux City.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and his great grandson Cameron Condon.

The Condon family wishes to thank all Chuck’s caregivers including Dr. Mitchell and DR. Kurth and their staffs, the entire staff at the V.A. Office in Indian Hills, the staff at the Cancer Center and Hospice of Siouxland, and the caring associates at Heritage at Northern Hills.

The family requests that all memorial contributions be directed to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or the Carmelite Monastery.
