Margaret Schumacher, 98, died on May 5, 2016. She had spent the past six years in Columbus, Ohio.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday May 14, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Armand J. Bertrand officiating. Visitation will be Friday May 13, 2016 from 4 till 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 till 8 p.m. and Vigil service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Margaret Elizabeth Stoeber Schumacher was born December 13, 1917 at home in Remsen,Iowa to Albert Henry and Elizabeth Kathryn (Heuertz) Stoeber. She graduated from LeMars (Iowa) High School in 1935. After high school graduation, Margaret worked as a clerk at the candy counter in the B & B dime store in LeMars, Iowa. She also worked for Dr. Brucher, a dentist. In Sioux City, she worked at Albertson’s for 8 years in the payroll department. She also worked for Siouxland Mental Health for 17 years as a bookkeeper.
Margaret married Martin Schumacher in Sioux City on September 15, 1951. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and active in her church, Immaculate Conception in Sioux City. She volunteered many years at a hospital in Sioux City, visiting the sick.
She loved to play cards and was involved in many bridge groups.
The past 5 years Margaret has lived at Crown Pointe Care Center in Columbus,Ohio. Her daughter JoAnn Schmitt resides in Dublin, Ohio.
Margaret is the second oldest of five siblings : Helen, Margaret, Lorraine, Dorothy, and Robert. She is survived by Dorothy Anderson of Meridian, MS and Robert Stoeber of Spencer,IA. She is also survived by her children Mary Schumacher(husband Ed Bradford), Jim Schumacher(wife Ellen), JoAnn Schmit (husband Richard), and Mark Schumacher(wife Mary Beth); her grandchildren Emily, Brian(wife Diane) and Will Bradford, Amy Schuber (husband Dave), Beth Dennert (husband Brian), Mark Schumacher (wife Jordan), and David Schumacher (wife Becky), Matt Schmitt (wife Piya) and Noah Bloom (formerly Rachel)(wife Jessica), Justin Schumacher and Lauren Atchity(husband Vincent); and her great grandchildren Oliver and Elliot Atchity, Emma and Micah Dennert.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Henry and Elizabeth (Heuertz) Stoeber, her husband, Martin Schumacher, sisters Lorraine Steele and Helen Sullivan.
