Roger Hodges

SIOUX CITY | Roger Dale Hodges, 67, of Sioux City and formerly of Sergeant Bluff, IA passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Chaplain Hector Perez will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 – 8 p.m. today (Friday) with the family present 6 – 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Roger was born January 7, 1949 in Sioux City the son of Richard C. and Dollie (Orr) Hodges. Roger served with the U.S. Army for 14 months in Vietnam.

After his honorable discharge, Roger worked for I.B.P. for several years. He moved to Louisiana where he worked in the oil refineries. He later worked in Colorado for a short period before returning to Sioux City. Roger lived the majority of his life in Sergeant Bluff where he owned and operator R & D Tree Service until 2004.

Roger was married to Barbara Abrahanson. To this union two daughters were born, Jamie and Jeanine.

Roger loved to hunt and fish, but his favorite hobby was shooting guns.

Survivors include his mother, Dollie Hodges of Sioux City; 2 brothers, Richard (Jenny) Hodges and Russell Hodges all of Sioux City; 2 daughters, Jamie (Ed) Marquardt and Jeanine Arndt of North Carolina; 4 grandchildren; and several nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard, in 2005.

Pallbearers will be Ron Hodges, Jeremy Hodges, Jordan Menard, Joel Reed, Mike Benson, Jr. and Shane Benson. Honorary pallbearer will be Jim Kajewski.
