Blanche was born August 17, 1929 in Kingsley, IA, the daughter of Everett and Etta (Bainbridge) Woods. Blanche attended country school growing up and graduated from Kingsley High School in 1947. After graduation she attended beauty school and was a beautician for 34 years until she retired due to a heart attack.
Blanche married William E. Conaway on April 15, 1950, making their home in Sioux City. They had two sons, Terrance and Gary.
Blanche was a selfless and devoted wife and mother, always putting her husband and family first. Bill said many times he could never have found a better wife and helpmate.
Blanche enjoyed flower gardening, making crafts, crocheting, needle point, and quilting. Blanche made beautiful quilts for each of her kids and grandkids to cherish. Blanche loved spending time with her daughter in law, Doneen, shopping on weekends and with her grandkids, babysitting and taking long walks. Chad likely helped restore Grandma’s heart back to 110% by figuring out how he could get Grandma to pull him along on his trike when she took her exercise walks.
Blanche is survived by her husband William of Sioux City; a son Gary (Doneen) of Sioux City; Grandsons Chad (Jessyca) and great granddaughter Mia of Centerville, SD, Jason (Bao Tran) and great granddaughter Grace of Davenport, IA and Jacob of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers Clayton Woods of South Sioux City, NE, and Jim (Pat) Woods of LeMars, IA; a brother in law and two sisters in law, and many nieces and nephews.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, son Terrance, and sister Grace.
