Betty Dannen, 72, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at a local hospital.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Pastor Laurie Van Cura officiating. Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Betty was born May 26, 1943 in Vermillion, SD the daughter of Towlow G. and Jeanette (Olsby) Mones. She graduated from Vermillion High School in 1961 and attended the University of South Dakota.
Betty worked as an insurance underwriter for Great West Casualty for 25 years before retirement, and was known for riding her yellow moped to and from work. Betty married Dale Dannen on November 29, 1991 in South Sioux City.
She was a marvelous cook and baker, making the best cinnamon and orange rolls. Betty was aslso very artistic with a flair for decorating. She loved all pets and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter.
Survivors include her husband Dale; children: Jeff and his wife Joan Bartels of Sioux City, Kim (Bartels) Vermilyea of Sergeant Bluff, and Brent and his wife Beth Bartels of Pella, IA; step children: Tammy and husband Scott Wright, Darryl and wife Judy Dannen, Darren and wife Susan Dannen, and Terri and husband Cody Huffins; grandchildren Kelli (Bartels) and husband Skyler Reising, Brett Vermilyea, Kate Vermilyea, Bailey Bartels, and Benjamin Bartels; step grandchildren: Caleb, Shea, and Dannen Wright, Holly Frates, Lindsay Dannen, Carissa Dannen, and Cullen Huffins; great grandchildren: Rory and Liv; and a sister Patricia “P.K.” and husband Roger Holmes of Vermillion, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be given in Betty’s memory to the Siouxland Humane Society.
