Eunice E. Bergquist

August 9, 1918 — April 11, 2016

   Eunice E. Bergquist, 97 of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Countryside Senior Living. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Pastor Sheryl Ashley of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with graveside prayers offered by Pastor Laurice Streyffeler. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 13th, with family present at 5:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service beginning this evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.    Eunice was born on August 9, 1918 in rural Remsen, Sioux County, Iowa to William and Minnie (Raveling) Tonsfeldt. She married Oscar Bergquist on February 21, 1942 in Sioux City. Following her degree from NBT Business School, Eunice worked as a bookkeeper for Western Union, was secretary for Wesley United Methodist Church, and was the bookkeeper for the Florence Crittenton Home. She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed cooking (especially unique cakes she made for family events). Eunice enjoyed playing cards, reading, crocheting, and working crossword puzzles, but her greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother.    Eunice is survived by her daughter Barbara Arens and her husband Tom of Sioux City; son Craig Bergquist and his wife Julie of Merrill; grandchildren Curt Bergquist, Jon Bergquist and his wife Amy, Allison Taylor and her husband Chuck, Kyle Waggoner and his significant other Brittney Gernhart, and Jay Bergquist; step-grandchildren Marc, Kirk, and Todd Waggoner, Jill Russell, and Brooke Lopuch; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
   Eunice was preceded in death by her husband Oscar in 1998, grandson Clint Bergquist, sister Frances Church, step-brother “Christy” Christophersen, step-granddaughter Kari Waggoner, and step-sisters Alma Schiltz and Leona Kemp.
