Merlin “Bud” Muecke, age 90, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016, at a local hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church near Hinton. Interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, where the family will be present from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and a Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Merlin Carl, son of Carl and Marie (Casper) Muecke, was born October 31, 1925, at home in Hinton, Iowa. He grew up at Hinton, where he completed the eighth grade.
On December 3, 1947, Bud was united in marriage with Loretta Koch at Trinity Lutheran Church. Bud and Loretta farmed near Hinton and one son and four daughters were born to this marriage.
Bud was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He was a very social who truly enjoyed being around other people and spending time with his family.
Bud is survived by four daughters: Sue Binnebose and husband Dennis of Norfolk, Nebraska; Nancy Muecke and fiancé Doug Howe of Sioux City; Patty Young and husband Ed of Iowa City; and Mary Muecke of Minneapolis, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a brother Dave Muecke of Hinton. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife and son Mark and sisters Luella Stabe and Shirley Papenhausen.
