Katherine L. “Kay” Erickson, 64, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at a Sioux City Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday April 5, 2016 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Rev. Roger Madden officiating. She will be cremated following services. There will be a burial of her cremains at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation with her body present will be on Monday, April 4, 2016 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Kay was born on August 1, 1951 in Cherokee, IA to Vernon and Darlene Payne. She was married to Vern Smith on May 21, 1988 in Elk Point, SD. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2003 in Sioux City. She was later married to William Erickson in Washta, IA. Kay was a Nurses Aid for Mercy Home Care.

She enjoyed doing bead work, camping and fishing. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Kay is survived by her husband William Erickson of Sioux City; mother Darlene Sargent of Correctionville, IA; sister Ardith (Robert) Hoeppner of Des Moines; IA and a brother Dennis (Krista) Payne of Sioux City, IA

She was preceded in death by her father, brother Donald Payne and a sister Alice Dobine.
