Robert Norman, son of Kenneth and Sharon (Sherman) Selwyn, was born November 11, 1962, in Yankton, South Dakota. He grew up in the Midwest and served in the U.S. Navy. He then worked as a laborer throughout Minnesota and Iowa.
Rob had a giving heart and would help anyone in need or give them a place to stay. He was a volunteer at the soup kitchen, an avid reader, and enjoyed bicycling, listening to rock music, playing foosball, cribbage, scrabble, and “Monopoly.” He had a special place in his life for any animal, especially his cockatiels Baby and Betty, his Halloween cat Salem and of course his rescued pigeon Pigey. Rob cherished the time with his family.
Robert is survived by his mother Sharon Sherman of Sioux City; his sister Nancy Plendl and husband Brad of Sioux City; his nephew and nieces: Brandon, Kayla, Kristina and Brittani; great-niece and great-nephews: Abbigail, Gage, Gunnar and Vincent; and by many close friends from Red’s Pierce Street Pub. He was preceded in death by his father.
