Yvonnie L. Pape, 84, of Sioux City passed peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2016,
at Westwood Hospice following a long battle with meningioma.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Orthodox Church with the
Rev. Lucas Rice officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Orthodox Cemetery in
Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday,
with family present beginning at 6 p.m., and a Trisagion service at 7 p.m. at

Yvonnie was born June 25, 1931, in Lexington, Neb., the daughter of Mose and Wadia
(Nemer) Yanney. She attended schools in Lexington, Tecumseh, and Lincoln, Neb. She
graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1949 and Morningside College in
There they raised their four sons. For nearly 30 years she worked at Job Service of
Iowa while assisting on the family farm.
Yvonnie was dedicated to her faith, family and friends. As an active member of St.
Thomas Orthodox Church, she participated in the church choir and the lady’s club. She
lovingly cared for her husband, who suffered from Parkinson’s disease, and was a
devoted mother and grandmother.
She was a member of the Morningside Alumni Association and served as president.
As an avid sports fan, she enjoyed rooting for her favorite teams.
Survivors include her four sons, Thomas (Becky) Pape of Corvallis, Ore., Richard Pape
of Liberty, Mo., Jeffrey (Lisa) Pape of Clovis, Calif., and Dr. James (Anne) Pape of
Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brothers Leroy (Gayla) Yanney of Sioux City and David (Pam)
Yanney of Bakersfield, Calif., and sisters Loretta (Dr. Michael) Kacere of Wahoo, Neb.,
Phyllis (Donald) David of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Lorraine (Dr. Donald) Nemer of
Gregory, S.D.; 14 grandchildren, Andrew, Samuel, Sally Ann, Anessa, Danielle, Lucas,
Benjamin, Lauren, Erin, Haley, Olivia, Joseph, Daniel, and John; great-granddaughter,
Avery; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill; her parents; her brother and sister-in-law,
James and “Dodo” Yanney; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law William and Mary
Anita Roseberry, Kent and Virginia Colling, Robert Pape, Thomas Pape, and Larry
Daughhetee.
Memorials may be made in her name to St. Thomas Orthodox Church.
The family would like to thank Yvonnie’s neighbors, friends, and medical staff who
supported and cared for her during her illness.
