Dolores was born at home on August 31, 1927 on a farm in Danbury, IA. She was the 5th child and first daughter of George and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Clausen. Dolores began working in retain sales as a teenager. She continued in that field becoming a Human Resource manager at Woolco and Grants.

She loved spending time with her family. A favorite pastime was our boating and camping trips. Mother enjoyed attending the baseball and basketball games, wrestling matches and school programs through the years. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. The decorations, lights, music and her family together gave her great joy. She prepared some fabulous meals for us. Fudge and divinity were her specialty.

During retirement she volunteered at Mercy Medical Center with the Mended Hearts Association. She also spent many happy years at the Sergeant Floyd Welcome Center. Mother loved playing cards and dancing so she joined the Siouxland Senior Center and established life giving friendships. She loved big band music and during WWII she danced at the USO club.

Left to carry on Dolores spirit are her children: daughter Stephanie Pruitt, sons Mike Carey and Mark (Lori) Carey; thirteen grandchildren: Melissa (Ken) Benanti, Scott (Becky) Reed, Tina (Ken) McDonald, Pamela (Kevin) Holland, Michael White, Jacquelyn Donahoo, Valerie McNaughton, Amanda Carey, Brooke Carey, Chad (Holly) Carey, Derek (Carol) Carey, Candace Blackbird and Amy Blackbird; Thirty-three great grandchildren; two great great granddaughters; her sister Marilyn Allen; and several nieces, nephews, loving cousins, and loyal caring friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Harold in 2004, her daughter Michele White in 2007 and her four brothers: Burdette, Newman, Joseph, and Donald.

She leaves us rich in memories.
