Robert Helm Peters, 94, died in his home on March 17, 2016 surrounded by his wife and two daughters.
Services will be at 11:30 A.M. Monday, March 28, 2016 at Faith United Presbyterian Church with Reverend David Koehler officiating.
Bob was born in Sioux City on May 5, 1921. He graduated from East High School in 1939. Bob then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
When in San Diego, CA, Bob met and married Esther Dietrich on November 30, 1946. Bob started his own business in 1949 as a vending machine operator and distributor. He had nearly a thousand machines and traveled in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
He was known by his customers as “The gumball man”. Bob leaves behind his faithful wife of 70 years, Esther Peters of Sioux City; his daughters: Terri (Kip) Rimm of Springfield, VA and Jan (Victor) Fong of Waipahu, HI; four grandchildren; and one great grandson.
Memorials may be given in Bob’s name to Faith United Presbyterian Church.
