Lois Lorraine Munro, 93, of Sioux City passed away on March 12, 2016, at Floyd Place in Sergeant Bluff, where she had resided since July 2013.
Abiding by her wishes, cremation has been accorded. Arrangements are pending with Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
Lois was born in Sioux City on May 8, 1922, to Floy and Walter Raker. She lived in Sioux City her entire life, where she attended school and graduated from East High School in 1940. Lois married Douglas Munro on June 28, 1941. They enjoyed 64 years together until his passing in 2005. Doug suffered from Alzheimer's for many years and received loving care from Lois. They enjoyed dancing and being with their friends, whose memories sustained them in later years.
Lois enjoyed sewing and for many years she made dozens of costumes for the annual Chris Harrington Dance Recital. Later, she worked at Youngtown for 30 years, where she helped many mothers who were buying outfits for their children. They lived on Mulberry Street in Morningside from 1946 until 2001, when Lois moved to Four Seasons Countryside. She loved her apartment, especially on warm evenings when she and her neighbors would gather on her porch to visit. Lois and Doug raised two children.
She is survived by a son, Dave Munro and his wife, Jean, of Indio, Calif.; a daughter, Julie, and her husband, Lt. Col. Tom Morse (Ret.), of Sun City West, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Carrie Nichols of Highland Ranch, Colo., Allison Taylor of Pueblo, Colo., and David Hobbs of Shenandoah, Iowa; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Mil Sokolowski of New Brighton, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of Siouxland. The family would like to thank the staff at Floyd Place for the loving care and support they provided to Lois during her residency there.
