Monica Erin Smithwick

Monica Erin Smithwick, 35 of Sioux City, Iowa, formally of Virginia Beach, Virginia, entered into rest Sunday, February 28, 2016, in Sioux City. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 4, 2016, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel where visitation at 6:00 P.M. Online condolences may be given at www. meyerbroschapels.com.

Monica was welcomed into this world on June 9, 1980. She spent her teenage years in Virginia Beach before moving to Sioux City. Monica was an absolute Rock Star, a true Gemini. Everybody that was lucky enough to cross paths with her had a friend for life. She loved to sprinkle her sunshine in this world. Monica wanted every soul she came in contact with to know their worth and beauty. Monica didn’t have a lot of material things, but she could turn anything into something beautiful. Monica had obtained her Associate of Arts Degree at WITCC, and was continuing her education at the University of South Dakota pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mass Media. Along with all her other talents, Monica was 5-star chef, a writer, a poet, musician, composer, an artist, and was one of the most beautiful, lip-glossed, high-heel wearing souls we were all blessed to know.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother Margo McNeil (Douglas), father Douglas Smithwick, sisters Dacia Thorson (Curtis) and Lauren Smithwick, brother Carson Delle Donne, many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends from coast to coast and her soul-mate of 13 beautiful, fun-filled years Todd Gilmer, their dog 85, and Todd's family, especially his mother Penny Meier Hardy, who treated Monica as her own.
