Delores M. Sykora, 78 of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at a local hospital. A Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. www.meyerbroschapels.com Delores was born on January 5, 1938 in Harmony, Wisconsin to Adolph and Eleanor (Lasee) Makovsky. She married John A. Sykora on November 17, 1956 in Catawba, Wisconsin. The family moved to Sioux City in 1962, where Delores was a homemaker until her children were in school. She was employed by Zenith, until its closure, and worked as a cook at numerous siouxland establishments, including Bob Rowe’s, and Matney nursing facilities. Delores was an avid reader, and enjoyed puzzles. She was an active member of Church of the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and was active in the Ladies Guild.
Delores is survived by her children Dale (Roxanne) Sykora of Sergeant Bluff, IA and daughter Debra Sylora of Sioux City; brother Gary (Ruth) Makovsky of Boise, ID; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, husband John in 1985, sons Randolph J. Sykora and Mark A. Sykora, brother Jim, and sister Darlene.
