Ida Levich

September 16, 1921 — February 20, 2016

Ida Levich, 94 of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Sunrise Retirement Home.

 

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Sioux City. Rabbi Guy Greene will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

 

Ida was born September 16, 1921 in Sioux City; she was the daughter of Jake and Mary (Merlin) Shindler. Ida grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. She helped in the family bakery, Sioux City Bakery while growing up and graduated from Central High School.

 

Ida married Nate E. Levich after Nate returned to Sioux City following his service in the armed forces during WW II.

 

Ida was a bookkeeper and worked in the family business at Peoples Furniture Store and later for the United Way Office retiring at the age of 80.

 

The biggest part of her life was her family. Ida was very stylish and enjoyed having the latest fashions, eyeglasses and handbags. She was also a member of Congregation Beth Shalom.

 

Survivors include her son Michael Levich and his wife Sue Ellen of Tampa. FL; her close friend Donna Dwyer of Sioux City and her care giver Karen Kirkpatrick of Sioux City. Ida is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews who were very dear to her.

 

Ida was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Nate, a brother Iz Shindler and his wife Betty, a sister Tillie Grossman and her husband Dr. Milton Grossman.

 

The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise Retirement Community and Hospice of Siouxland for the wonderful care they gave to Ida.
