Emma Mary Shuck

Emma Shuck, age 92, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016, at a local hospital. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 15, 2016, at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel, where visitation will begin after 9:30 A.M. Emma Mary, daughter of Adam and Stella (Krowkoski) Shuck, was born in Sioux City, IA on November 30, 1923.

Affectionately known as “Em”, she was known and loved throughout Sioux City for her tireless devotion to the families and children of the Sioux City school system, where she served as a school nurse for over 30 years.

After graduating from East High School, she graduated from the St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in 1946. She studied Public Health at the University of Minnesota and graduated with her B.S.N. from Briar Cliff College in 1960.

Em worked for the Sioux City Health department until 1952. She worked as a clinical instructor at St. Joseph until 1956 and she was a school nurse for the Sioux City Community Schools from 1956 to 1988.

She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Nashleanas of Colorado Springs, and by her beloved niece and nephews, Michael Nashleanas of St. Petersburg, FL, Marcia Rissler of Branson, MO and Rick Nashleanas of Colorado Springs, CO.
