Robert Petrik, age 90, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, surrounded by family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, on Friday, February 12, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Friday. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Robert Dennis, son of Alois and Frances (Miller) Petrik, was born September 1, 1925, in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from East High School in 1943.
Robert then entered the U.S. Army Air Corps and attended Aviation Cadet School and various Air Tech schools while serving in World War II. Following his discharge, he joined the Iowa Air Guard.
On March 16, 1951, Robert was united in marriage with Norma Jean Rich in Sioux City. Seven children were born to this union. Robert was recalled to active duty in 1951, and served in the Korean War and Vietnam War, eventually retiring with the rank of Senior Chief Master Sergeant from the Air Guard in 1978.
Robert is survived by six children: Teresa (Kenneth) Omundson of Boise, Idaho; Steve (Jo Ellen) Petrik of Sioux City; Julie (Carroll) Fullerton of South Dakota; Robert (Kathy) Petrik of Sioux City; Mary (Tim) Marx of Sioux City; and Paul (Shannon) Petrik of Arizona; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a brother Michael (Dawn) Petrik of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma, and a daughter Nancy Huseth.
