LaVonne Ann Lewis

December 26, 1932 — February 4, 2016

LaVonne Ann Lewis, 83 of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, February 4th, 2016 at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be at noon on Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

LaVonne was born December 26, 1932 in Sioux City; the daughter of Floyd and Wilhelmena (Pfeifer) Simmons. She was raised in Sioux City and attended Cathedral High School.

On July 31, 1948, LaVonne married William Edward Lewis and they made their home in Sioux City. LaVonne worked as a Quality Inspector at the Zenith Plant in Sioux City from 1974 until its closure in 1977.

LaVonne enjoyed cooking, gardening and most of all her grandchildren. She was a very sweet woman who enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children: Judy Taylor of Sioux City, Alan (Connie) Lewis of Sioux City, Renae (Marty) Tompkins of Sergeant Bluff, David Lewis of Omaha, NE; her sister: Dolores Santee of Omaha, NE, 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a great great grandson.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ed, a son Lynn A. Lewis (Gail), a grandson Daniel A. Lewis, two sisters: Ione and Arlene Simmons and a brother Virgil Simmons.
