Cecilia Plendl

Cecilia Plendl, age 91, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2016, at a local nursing home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 8 PM on Friday, February 5, 2016, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel where the family will be present from 6 PM to 8 PM and a Vigil Service will be held at 7 PM. Cecilia A., was born August 29, 1924 in Oyens, Iowa, the daughter of Mathias and Anna (Schroeder) Feller. She was raised in the LeMars area and graduated from St. Joseph's School in l942.

On Jan. 21, 1946, Cecilia was united in marriage with Raymond Plendl in Sioux City. They lived in Leeds for many years and were members of St. Michael's Catholic Church.  In 1974, they moved to the west side and became long time members of St. Boniface Church.  Cecilia was a member of the St. Boniface ladies guild.  She worked for 27 years as a salesperson at Younkers until her retirement. She was a very sweet woman who enjoyed spending time with her family and being around other people.

Survivors include five sons: Gary (Karen) of Olympia, Washington: Stanley (Dominic) of Phoenix, Arizona: James, of Aurora, Colorado; John (Patti) of Cotopaxi, Colorado, and Francis of Aurora, Colorado; four daughters: Anita (David) Anderson of Sioux City, Iowa: Sharon (Eugene) Kasperbauer of Roselle, Iowa; Jeanine Fegley of Humble, Texas; and Norma (Randy) Rosenbaum of Elk Point, South Dakota; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Sutton of Brighton, Colorado; a sister, Viola Orban of LeMars, Iowa; two sisters-in-law; Rita Plendl of Kingsley, Iowa, and Madonna Shock of Bellevue, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and 4 great-great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; a son, Paul; a great-grandson, Richard; one brother, and four sisters.
