SIOUX CITY, IA | Robert F. “Bob” Butler, 83, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2016 at a local care facility.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Robert was born March 8, 1932 in Sioux City to Ken and Helen (Delaney) Butler. Bob lost his mother when he was 16 months old and was raised by Tom and Lizy Delaney. He graduated from East High School.
Bob worked for Esse Night Service in the Stockyards for 18 years. In 1970 he started his 24 year career as an engineer with the Sioux City Community Schools. He worked 6 years at Hoover Middle School, 3 years at Woodrow Wilson Middle School and 15 years at Joy Elementary School.
On June 16, 1979 he married Lila L. Simon. Bob, along with his wife enjoyed the outdoors, raising flowers and a big garden. They loved to watch the birds and deer. Lila passed away on Jan. 17, 2009.
Bob was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Survivors include his step-son, John Simon of Charles City, IA; special people in his life, Lorraine Groves, Marty Torgerson, Pat Carlson, Sally Torgerson, Danny O’Connor and John Kluver; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and step-son, Mark Simon.
