DOON, IA | George Bradley, 84, formerly of Sioux City, IA went to his ultimate home with his Lord on Sunday, January 24, 2016. He passed away from cardiac arrest brought on by years of COPD.
Visitation with the family present will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Doon United Reformed Church, with the service to follow at 12 p.m. Burial will be in Sioux City, IA at Memorial Park Cemetery with a meal served at the Elks Club following the burial. George was born in Little Egypt between Moville and Climbing Hill on August 11, 1931 to Lucille and Herbert Bradley. He attended country school until they moved to Sioux City, IA. George graduated from Central High School in 1950. George spent the biggest share of his life in Sioux City.
George was united in marriage to Barbara Betsworth on June 10, 1951. Barbara passed away on March 9, 2001 after battling cancer for several years. George married Harriet Van Engen on June 9, 2001 in Doon, IA. She passed away on July 8, 2015.
George worked for W.A. Klinger & Gleeson Construction for 50 years as a job superintendent. George served as a sergeant in the Army National Guard. During his later years, George lived in Doon, IA where he served as their mayor.
Those left to cherish George’s memory are his children, Connie (Kenneth) Bradley, Danny (Jacqueline) Bradley and Terry (Barb) Bradley; grandchildren, Amy (Ryan) Patterson, Kenny (Stephanie) Bradley, Ryan (Laura) Bradley, Kirk (Lindsey) Bradley, Kristy (Justin) Dickson; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; step children, Gail Andringa, Carol (Clyde) Lems, Allen (Judy) Van Engen, Wanda (Allen) Koedam, Jay (Judy) Van Engen, Roy (Cathy) Van Engen; and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Alfred and sister-in-law, Beverly Bradley; his wife, Barbara and later his second wife, Harriet.
Pallbearers will be Amy and Ryan Patterson, Kenny Bradley, Ryan Bradley, Kirk Bradley and Justin Dickson.
