Edward F. Combs, 62 of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at a Sergeant Bluff nursing facility. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Sunnybrook Community Church with Pastor B.J. Van Kalsbeek officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 26th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present at 6:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A Prayer Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Edward was born on February 20, 1953 in Sioux City, Iowa to LaVeral and Virginia (Clay) Combs. He received his education in the Sioux City Public Schools, graduating from West High School. Ed married Cynthia Koskovich in 1971, to which union, two sons were born. The couple divorced in 2001. Ed has enjoyed his “Soul Mate” Moeine “Moe” Blaker since 2003, and they two have lived in Sergeant Bluff. Ed has worked for IBP, Floyd Valley Packing, and Old Home Bakery throughout the years, along with other various jobs until his health forced his early retirement in 2005. He enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, cheering for the Nebraska Huskers, and Chicago Bears. He was active in the Golden Gloves Boxing circuit as a youth, boxing out of the Bill Engle’s Gym in South Sioux City, Nebraska, and continued his enjoyment of boxing throughout his life.

Edward is survived by his sons Jason Combs and his wife Allison of Sioux City and Nick Combs and his significant other Jamie Vogt of South Sioux City, Nebraska; grandchildren Lindsey Combs and Jacob Combs; Soul Mate Moeine “Moe” Blaker of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; step-son Tim Bowen and his wife Nicole of Sioux City; step-daughters Melissa Merrill and her husband Brent of Sioux City and Melody Henneman and her husband Arthur of Decatur, Nebraska; 15 step-grandchildren (who all called him “Papa Ed”); 8 step-great-grandchildren (who all called him “Papa Ed”); brothers Gaylen Combs, Mike Combs, Carl Combs and his wife Michelle, Ronnie Combs, Tommy Combs, Timmy Combs, Tracy Combs and his wife Trish, and Jeff Combs; sisters Linda Mason and Marline Bellis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lori Combs and Carol Christenson, and brothers Darrell Hunt and Richard Hunt.
