M. Kay Tobin

M. Kay Tobin, 68, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at a local hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Per her wishes, Kay was cremated and a Memorial Service will be held in the spring.

Kay was born July 19, 1947 in Flagler, Colorado the daughter of Alvin D. and Vendla (Holmes) Freeman. Her family moved to Canon City, Colorado when she was very young and she attended schools there and referred to Canon as her home town. She met Larry Tobin there in 1976 and they moved back to his hometown of Sioux City. Larry and Kay were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City on June 10, 1978. They made their home here and raised their wonderful boys. Kay was referred to as “Momma Kay” by her Step son Robert Ray Tobin when he visited in the summer with her, his step brothers, and his father. Kay worked as a Lab Manager for an Orthodontist Office for 35 years before retiring in November of 2013 due to health issues.

Kay is survived by her husband Larry Tobin of Sioux City; sons: Ivan D. Fish (Tonya) of Sioux City, Eugene P. Tobin (Karen) of Sioux City, and Thomas A. Tobin (Shauna) of Gayville, SD; a step son Robert R. Tobin (Lisa) of Pueblo, CO; brothers: Daniel Freeman (Bobbie) of Pueblo, CO, Richard Freeman (Deb) of Canon City, CO, and Kenneth Freeman (Lou) of Sterling, CO; a sister Delane Condor (Miles) of Bellflower, Missouri; 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first child Kimberly Renee, her parents and parents-in-law.
