Bonnie Clay, age 70, of South Sioux City, Nebraska, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, January 18, 2016, at her daughter’s home in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in South Sioux City. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 8 PM on Friday, January 22, 2016, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel where the family will be present from 6 PM to 8 PM and a Vigil service will be held at 7:30 PM. Bonnie, daughter of Darrell and Beulah (Girard) Brown, was born October 6, 1945, in Sioux City, Iowa. She grew up in Jefferson, South Dakota, where she graduated from high school.
Bonnie suffered from mental illness much of her life. However, she was able to be productive and enjoy life. She worked at the Friendship House, Burger King, Cruises and the café at the downtown JC Penney. In the 1980s, Bonnie worked as a live-in caregiver. She was a certified sewing seamstress and enjoyed sewing, embroidery, camping, playing cards, going dancing, and spending time with her grandchildren and sisters.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter Brenda (Jose) Flores of South Sioux City, NE; her father Darrell Brown; three sisters: Annette Beavers of North Sioux City, SD; Nola (Ray) Christiansen of Sioux City; and Karen Tullis and significant other Rocky Nagel of Jackson, NE; a sister-in-law Melody (Gary) Molacek of Omaha, NE; three grandchildren: Jacob Beavers, Janet Barber and Jerry Beavers; ten great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Gunner, Jessica, Joshua, Jace, Dakota, Audrina, Aliena, Ashline and Kya.
She was preceded in death by her mother Beulah Brown, a grandson Josh Beavers and a brother Kenny Clay.
