October 23, 1928 — January 18, 2016

Benjamin B. “Ben” Bugg, 87, of Sergeant Bluff, IA passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016 at a Sioux City Hospital surrounded by family. Funeral services will be on Friday, January, 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with the Chaplain Cheri Johansen officiating. Military Graveside Honors will be held in the Memorial Park Cemetery by the U.S. Army National Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 662.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Ben was born on October 23, 1928 in Fort Dodge, IA to Benjamin Bingham and Alpha Frances (Murphy) Bugg, Sr. He attended Fort Dodge High School. He served his country in the US Army serving in the Veterinary Corp.

He married Dorothy Johnson on November 24, 1956 in South Sioux City, NE.  They made their home in Sioux City, and Sergeant Bluff. They raised 5 children. Ben and his wife owned & operated the Sioux Shooting Park and DX Communications, a 2 way radio shop.

Ben was a very experienced sailor. Ben also enjoyed shooting guns, playing and watching golf, and photography.  He was member of the NRA, ATA and the Hawkeye Pistol Club, past member of the Shriners and the Masons.

Ben is survived by his 5 children, Victoria (Bob) Mayberry of Fremont, NE., Vincent (Barbara) Bugg of Sgt Bluff, IA., Diana (Richard) Yoesel of Rulo, NE., Susanna (David) deBuhr of Cedar Falls, IA., and Rebecca (Kevin) Robinson of Spencer, IA.  11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Garnita Johnson of Fort Dodge, IA, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy and brother in-law Leonard Johnson.
