Perry E. Barnes, 63, of Sioux City passed away Friday, January 15, 2016, at his residence. Perry had been in a long fight with cancer. Even though Perry had this disease he did not let it get the best of him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2016 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Perry (who many called Uncle “P”, Big “P” or just “P”) was born on August 29, 1952, in Brainerd, Minnesota to Edward and Jayne Marie (Soiseth) Barnes. He graduated from East High School in 1970. Perry graduated from Morningside College in 1974 where he received his bachelor’s in Art History. Perry had a passion for music and had a collection of guitars and other instruments. He was a lifelong fan of the Beatles and raved about seeing Paul McCartney in concert. Perry had a sense of humor and always enjoyed being an entertainer. He entertained the neighborhood at a young age with “Perry’s Circus”. He was an expert at waterskiing and was always trying new tricks. Perry was a loving husband to Cathy and father to his two children. Perry was full of life and love for his family and many friends. He influenced many people throughout his life.

Survivors include two sons, Paul and Samuel Barnes; his mother, Jayne Marie Burnight; three brothers, Robert and Nancy Barnes, David Barnes and Eric and Rebecca Barnes.

He was preceded in death by his wife and his father.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the family for future designation or to Hospice of Siouxland.
