Marla was born February 3, 1949 in Sioux City Ia. to Walter and Henrietta (Bennett) Trudeau. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City and lived on the Westside and Morningside. She graduated from Central High School class of 1967 after attending Emerson Elementary school and West Junior. She married the love of her life, Lynn Watson, in 1974. They would have celebrated 41 years of marriage on March 29. She stayed home to take care of her children, Steven and Gina, as well as watching the children of many friends and family members in her home daycare. She loved children and had an amazing way with them. All who know her will remember her gift of the gab and love of telling stories. She also worked as a seamstress for Dowry Costumes and volunteered those skills at the Sioux City Community Theatre for many productions. She and Lynn enjoyed traveling and dinners with John and Anita and had many friends to laugh and talk with throughout the years. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren and creating memories with her family meant everything to her. She is grateful that she was able to spend her last Christmas at home with those she loved and meet her latest baby granddaughter.

Marla had an amazing talent for working with her hands and enjoyed beadwork, sewing, and crochet. She loved cooking, baking and hosting meals at her home. She grew up loving animals and always had a dog or a cat (or both) as pets. She had a way with plants and loved eating fresh vegetables from her garden. She was known for her six foot tall hibiscus with blooms the size of dinner plates.

She was proud of her varied cultural background and heritage and was a member of the Santee Sioux Tribe of Nebraska.

Marla is survived by her husband, Lynn Watson, her son Steven Watson and daughter in law Sarah, daughter Gina Watson and son in law Brett Gerking, brother Joel and his wife Debbie Trudeau, grandchildren Lakota and Tallis Watson, Gryphon, Coraline and Emily Gerking, and various nieces, nephews, and cousins as well.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother Walter and Henrietta, her beloved grandmother Mary Alvena and father in law Samuel. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Marla’s name to the Food Bank of Siouxland’s Backpack for Kids program.
