Jean M. Counter

Jean M. (Anthony) Counter, 61 of Sioux City passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016 at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church. Rev. Roger Linnan will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. and a Vigil service at 7:00 P.M. all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Jean was born July 8, 1954 in LeMars, IA; she was the daughter of Donald and Helen (Frerichs) Anthony. Jean grew up in LeMars and graduated from LeMars Community High School and then from the Spencer School of Business.

Jean worked for Fidelity Investment, John Hancock Insurance and then for the Hellige, Frey & Roe Law Firm for 21 years.

She married Ron Counter February 8, 2008 in Dakota City, NE.

Jean was a member of St. Michael Catholic church. She enjoyed gardening and collecting ceramic angels but most of all spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband: Ron of Sioux City, her daughter: Stacy Rathje (Keith) and 2 grandchildren: Mackenzie and Andrew, of Colorado Springs, CO; Step-son: Ron Counter II; her mother: Helen Anthony of LeMars, IA; 2 brothers: Jim Anthony (Nancy) of Creston, IA, Jeff Anthony (Denise) of New Ulm, MN; 2 sisters: Judy Moulton (Todd) of Tulsa, OK, Julie Orban (Armand) of Demming, NM; a sister-in-law: Deb Anthony of LeMars, IA; 8 nieces, 9 nephews, 10 great nieces, 20 great nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her father Donald Anthony, her sister Joan Rolling and her brother John Anthony.
