Joseph E. Gormally, Sr. 87 of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Rev. Michael Erpelding will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. and a Vigil service at 7:00 P.M. all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Joe was born November 9, 1928 in Sioux City; he was the son of Charles and Hazel (Frink) Gormally. Joe grew up in Sioux City. He married Anna M. Richer October 21, 1950 in Sioux City. Joe served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. Joe worked for Sioux City Foundry, Prince Hydraulics and then retired from Interbake Foods in 1990. Joe was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Men’s Club where he had served as President. He was a member of the V.F.W. and enjoyed golfing at Sun Valley, hunting and fishing in his younger years and woodworking. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband and loving father.

Survivors include his wife Anna of Sioux City; 5 children: Joseph Gormally, Jr. (Barb) of Sioux City, Jeannie Benson (Randy) of King George, VA, Timothy Gormally (Jeannie) of Sioux City, Steven Gormally (Glenda) of Sioux City and Remi Gormally of Sioux City; his brothers and sisters: Maxine Gaby of Santa Clarita, CA, Mary Hay of Ankeny, IA, Thomas Gormally (Phyllis) of Santa Clarita, CA, Richard Gormally (Sherry) of Wichita, KS; 7 grandchildren: Kimberly Post (Jeff), Marc Gormally, Brian Benson (Candy), Cheryl Kirkpatrick (James), Michael Gormally (Christina), Cory Gormally (Fiancé Kaleigh), Staffanie Danke (Rob); 11 great grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Michael, and 2 brothers: Vincent and Charles Gormally.
