Eugene Leon Pennell passed away Wednesday January 06, 2016 at a Sioux City hospital

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday January 12, 2016 at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Grant officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday January 11, 2016 from 4 till 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 till 8 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Gene was born October 10, 1928 in Haigler, Ne the son of Ernest and Mildred (Rhodes) Pennell.  He attended grade school in the country and high school in Haigler, NE.  He moved to Sioux City in 1949 and spent the rest of his life here.  Gene married Geneva Butler in 1950 and to this marriage four children were born.  He divorced Geneva and later he married Violet (Vie) Robinson in 1981. 

Eugene is survived by his wife Violet of Sioux City, his son: Tony Pennell (Judith) of Phoenix, AZ, daughter: Peggy Jimenez (Felix) of Phoenix, AZ, daughter: Rhonda Kooyman (Curt) of Kearney, Ne; 2 step children: Barbara Armer of Sheldon, IA and James Armer of Oregon; several grandkids and great grandkids; a sister in law: Lillian Owens of Sioux City; several nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Rick Pennell; a sister Helen Hoff and a brother Herbert Owens.
