Charles F. Duckett, 75 of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at a local hospital. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Reverend Senstad and Reverend Zirpel officiating. Visitation, with the family present, will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Graceland Park Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Charles was born on November 12, 1940 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Edwin C. and Thelma (Root) Duckett. He served in the United States Army and was active in the local V.F.W. Charles was a railroader, through and through, enjoying his career as an engineer for numerous railroads. He married Mary Lew Moore in his younger days, which ended in divorce. Charles later married Shirley Dolphin on July 16, 1983 in Sioux City. He enjoyed camping with his family members, and he loved to travel.
Charles is survived by his sons Chuck (Lynda) Duckett of Lead, SD, and Steven Duckett of Birch Bay, WA; daughter Gina (Paul) Quinn of Oregon; step-son Michael (Vicki) Richardson of Leonardtown, MD; step-daughter Jeri (John) Nelson of Salix, IA; step-daughter-in-law Lori Richardson of North Carolina; and 15 grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley in 2010, three sons Leslie, Brian, and David, and step-son Rick Richardson.
