Louvina L. Dean

Louvina L. Dean, 84, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015 at Touchstone Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Lauderdale, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, January 1, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. with family preset from 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Louvina was born on November 24, 1931 in Glovers, MS to Samuel and Melinda (Armstrong) Davis. She was married to LeRoy R. Dean in December of 1951. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2005 in Sioux City. She worked many years as a house keeper and later worked for and retired from Max Speedy Auto Wash in 1993.

She enjoyed watching western movies, ironing, singing in the church choir, helping people, and gardening.

She is survived by her 5 daughters Barbara Dean on Sioux; Gloria Dean; and Dora Franklin of Sioux City; Kathleen Dean on LeMars, IA; and Melinda (Robert, Sr.) Lauderdale of Houston, TX; 3 sons, Leon Dean and Lavon Dean, Sr. and companion Mary Hogan of Sioux City; and LeRoy (Kari) Dean, Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD; 19 grandchildren and an host of great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.
