Ferris N. Ohl, 89, of Hinton, IA has went to Heaven to be with Jesus and his lovely wife Fern on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 21, 2015 at Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. James Travis officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. with family present and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Ferris was born September 7, 1926 in Dunlap, Iowa the son of Nicholas and Emma (Christiansen) Ohl. Ferris worked in Bomber Plant in Omaha, NE until the end of World War 2, and then started farming.
Ferris first saw Fern at a dance hall in Ute, even though they never spoke that night, Ferris knew he had seen the love of his life. After a few years of dating they were united in marriage on September 12, 1948 in Ute, Iowa. Together they farmed for 7 years near Ute, where 3 of their 4 children were born. They later moved in 1955 to a farm near Hinton where their 4th child was born. Ferris loved farming, raising cattle, hogs, and chickens. Above all, he enjoyed gardening.

Ferris is survived by his son Randall (Cindy) Ohl of Sioux City; daughter Candice Kay (Tom) Flaherty of Bozeman, MT; son Steven F. Ohl of Sioux City; and Ryan J. Ohl and special friend Shelly of Hinton; grandchildren Carrie (Eric); Corlie and fiancé Josh; Douglas (Keri); Traci (Darren); Tori; Kyler (Jourdan); Taryn (Ryan); Dylan; Alli; Natalie; Katelyn (Nick) and Jaclyn; great grandchildren Collen, Colbie, Branson, Barrett, Brett, Harper, Keagen, and Raiden; and a sister Evelyn McMinemee of Denison, IA.
Ferris was preceded in death by his parents and his beautiful wife Fern (Bretthauer) Ohl on November 26, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his sister Leona Naslund and a brother Maynard Ohl.
