Visitation, with the family present, will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Online Condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com Jake was born on June 12, 1951 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Donald D. and Elizabeth (Bradley) Jacobson. Jake was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and bridge player. He had recently achieved the level of platinum lifetime master of which he was very proud. If you play bridge in District 14, then there are good odds you have played with or against Jake. He is not a player one would forget. Jake was one of our best; fine analyst, keen perception with bidding and competition. Having Jake as an opponent was not in anyone's best interests vis a vis results. Yet on one level - all of us were always glad to see Jake. Tough as he was at the table, finding a more jovial, friendly and fun loving guy would be difficult. A smile rarely left his face; harsh words were nonexistent. This past summer, Jake celebrated going over 10,000 points and becoming a Platinum Life Master. While we grieve that we will no longer be able to report more of Jake's achievements, we share what everyone who knew him is thinking: oh, how very fortunate we were to have him as a partner, teammate, competitor - and friend. You will be missed, Jake - big time. Jake is survived by his brothers Erik and Richard Jacobson, niece Sara, and nephew Derik of Colorado. His sister Sandy McCarthy and husband Dennis of Washington. His best friend Brian Delaney of Sioux City . Jake was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jerry and Tom, and sister in law Marsha. Contributions may be given to the Siouxland Center for Active Generations.
