Dr. John E Anderson

Dr. John E. (Bubs) Anderson passed quietly on Dec. 15, 2015 at the age of 77, with his companion Laura Rotell at his side.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 21, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Sunday with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. and a Vigil service at 7:00 P.M. all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

John was born December 2, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa, to John and Margaret (Wagner) Anderson. He graduated from Heelan High School in 1957 and from Creighton University Dental School in 1964.

John was one of those rare people who could do anything. He was a dentist in Sioux City and so much more. John was a scratch golfer who had five hole in ones. He was an artist who could paint with oil and also used clay to create pottery. He wasn’t content with spending his time only on the surface of the earth he also sky dived and scuba dived. He loved being on the water and was on the Rivercade staff for many years. Driving race cars was also one of his interests and along with a couple of partners turned Park Jefferson horse racing track to Park Jefferson car racing track. One of his proudest accomplishments was the time he spent in the Navy. He made it all the way up the ladder to one step below Admiral. John was in the Sea Bees and spent two tours in Vietnam with a medical team going from village to village doing dental work. He was on the staff of the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. He also practiced dentistry with the American Embassy in Taipei and Jakarta, Indonesia.

John is survived by sisters: Jeaneen Nacke, Rose Marie Bennett (Tom), and brothers: Jim (Helen), Dave (Ann), Mike and Mark (Deanna), also many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by daughters Christian Marie and Jean Maria, parents John and Margaret, his sister Kathleen Linden and brother in law Ray Nacke.
