Kelli was born in Sioux City on Sept. 20, 1958 to Richard and Joyce (Henry) Speck. She graduated from Heelan High School in 1977, owing in large part, she liked to say, because they couldn't bear the thought of having her back for another year. Kelli was supported throughout her battle by her devoted Heelan friends and classmates, whom she would keep updated, through her "Kelli's Cancer Corner" posts. Her acerbic wit and their love and support was a sustaining combination.

Kelli was a passionate life-long supporter of the Democratic Party, working while living in Sioux City for then Congressman Berkeley Bedell's office.  After the congressman's retirement  Kelli moved to Chicago, where she worked in retail leasing.  At the time of her death Kelli was the Director of Lease Administration for Merchandise Mart Properties Inc., Chicago.

Kelli leaves behind her brother, Tim "TJ" Speck (Spirit Lake, IA) sister, Sherri Speck, nephew, and light of her life, Ben Kuznets-Speck, Ben's other mother, Naomi Kuznets (all of Skokie, IL) and many beloved cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Kelli was an inspiration to many.  She would be pleased to inspire others to support Breast Cancer prevention and research efforts.
