Earl D. Pratt, Jr., 97 of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015 at a local nursing facility. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Ryan Dowell-Baum officiating. Burial, with military graveside rites by the United States Army, will follow at Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will be one hour prior to the service on Friday. Earl was born on September 10, 1918 in Moorehead, Iowa to Earl D. and Edith (Shoff) Pratt, Sr. He was the oldest of his three brothers and three sisters. Earl married Joyce Evelyn Olson on April 4, 1942 in Ute, Iowa. He served in the United States Army during World War II in North Africa and Italy. Earl owned and operated Pratt-Younglove Employment Agency for many years in Siouxland, and was a past president of the National Personnel Association. Earl was an avid reader, enjoyed woodworking, gardening, ballroom dancing, and classical music. He was member of First Congregational United Church Of Christ in Sioux City and volunteered at St. Luke’s Hospital reception area for many years, along with helping with Meals on Wheels.
Earl is survived by his son David (Joan) Pratt of Sioux City; daughter Mary (Greg) Hoversten of Henderson, Nevada; 6 grandchildren David (Megan) Pratt, Ruthie (Adam) Edwardson, Ben Pratt, Casey Hoversten, Josh Hoversten, and Alisha (Luke) O’Loughlin; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers and sisters.
