Michael A. Mueller, 66 of Lawton, IA and formerly of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at a Cherokee, IA Hospital.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Visitation will resume at 1:00 P.M. Saturday. Online condolences may be sent to

Mike was born March 5, 1949 in Sioux City; he was the son of Harold and Mary (Crichton) Mueller. Mike grew up in Riverside and graduated from Riverside High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a Medic during the Vietnam Conflict. After his service in Vietnam, Mike worked for a funeral home in Sioux Falls before going to Mortuary School in Mt. Hood, OR. After graduating from mortuary school, Mike returned to Sioux City where he worked for Meyer Brothers Funeral Homes for 28 years until he was forced to retire due to his illness with Parkinson’s disease. Mike married Mary Girard and to this union 2 sons were born, Brad and Nick. After Divorcing Mary Girard, Mike married Mary Gothier in 1996.
He was a member of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. Mike enjoyed golfing and he was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
Mike is survived by his wife Mary of Lawton, IA; 2 sons: Brad Mueller of Tucson, AZ and Nick Mueller and his wife Jessica and their son Beckett of San Diego, CA; a step daughter Jillian Shanahan and her husband Bryan of Flagstaff, AZ and their children Piper and Jaxon; 2 step sons: Jeremy Gothier of Sioux City and Wayne Dallman of Sioux City; 2 brothers: Ron Mueller of Sioux City and Daryl Mueller of Prescott, AZ. Mike is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
