Harry J. Irwin

Harry “Teeny” Irwin, age 89, of Elk Point, South Dakota, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Sanford Care Center in Vermillion, SD. Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until 11 A.M. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Harry J., son of Harry W. and Marian (Minscer) Irwin, was born June 26, 1926, in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in Sioux City and served in the U.S. Army during World War II-attaining the rank of T5.

On January 8, 1947, Harry was united in marriage with Caroline Groenhagen. Four sons were born to this union of 59 years. Harry was employed by Roberts Diary and Sterling Spring.

Harry is survived by: four sons, Kenneth (Linda) Irwin, Donald (Jody) Irwin, Martin (Joyce) Irwin and Brian (Lynn) Irwin; a brother Less Irwin; a sister Phyllis Nulty and husband Tom; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers: Roger, Duane and Willard Irwin; two sisters Pauline Mahan and Mary Lou Christenson; and one grandchild.
