Raymond M. “Ray” Hansen, 48, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at home following a lengthy illness and surrounded by family.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Daniel Rupp officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. Tuesday until service time at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
Ray was born July 14, 1967 in Sioux City the son of Francis and Sharon (Sullivan) Hansen. He graduated from North High School in 1986. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1988 and was honorably discharged in 1993.
Ray loved bowling and golfing and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed watching all sports and was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Twins, and the Chicago Cubs. Ray’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and attending family functions.
Ray was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the U.S.B.C. of Sioux City, and the Walleye Association.
He is survived by his significant other Terri Smyser of Sioux City; mother Sharon Hansen of Sioux City; two sons: Matthew Hansen and Brandon Hansen both of Sioux City; siblings: Kevin Hansen of Sioux City, Randolph (Kayleen) Donnelly of Wildomar, CA, Katie Hansen of Danbury, IA, and Tim (Amy) Hansen of Sparks, NV; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and maternal and paternal grandparents.
