Frances L. Benson, 89, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at a local care center.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 23, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Pastor Tom LoVan officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Frances was born December 10, 1925 in Sioux City, the daughter of George and Edna (Sather) Yates. She married Verlin Benson on June 20, 1942 in Ponca, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2006 in Sioux City. Frances worked for Swift and Company Packing Plant for 19 years.
She was an active member of Morningside Lutheran Church, and involved in the church circles. Frances enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, bowling, making quilts for church charities, knitting, sewing, and gardening.
She is survived by her children: George (Sharon) Benson of Sioux City, Eldina Benson of Dallas, TX, Edward (Edie) Benson of Phoenix, AZ, and Carolyn (Lloyd) Muhs of Moville, IA; Eight Grandchildren; Eleven Great Grandchildren; and Two Great Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, one brother, and two grandchildren.
