Robert J. "Bob" Kacena, 87 of Hubbard, NE passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015 at a Sioux City hospital. Per his wishes, Bob will be cremated and there will be a funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Jackson, NE. Rev. Paul Albenesius will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday with a Masonic Service at 7:00 P.M. at the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Bob was born September 25, 1928 in Cedar Rapids, IA; he was the son of Robert and Edna (Tangeman) Kacena. He graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids and then served in the U.S. Army special services during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge, Bob rode his Indian motorcycle from Texas back to Iowa where he started a many faceted career as an over the road truck driver, Cedar Rapids police officer and owner of several businesses including Central Café in Hawarden, IA, contract egg producer for MG Waldbaum Co, Confidence Business Services and Evergreen Pet Cremation. Bob moved to Sioux City in 1971 and married Swanee Martin on March 29, 1973 in Sioux City. He was a Catholic and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Jackson, NE. Bob was a member of Morningside Masonic Lodge # 615 A.F. & A.M., the Sioux City Scottish Rite and a member of the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple White Horse Mounted Patrol. He is survived by his wife Swanee of Hubbard, NE; four sons: Mark Martin (Nancy) of Dakota Dunes, SD, Randal Martin of Quimby, IA, Richard Martin of Sloan, IA and Timothy H. Kacena (Susan) of Sioux City; a daughter: Patrice Colling (Charles) of Sioux City; 4 granddaughters: Melissa Colling, Michele Martin Hansen, Amy Kacena and Jasmynn Martin; seven grandsons: Mitchell Martin (Emily), Cameron Martin, Richard Martin, Jr, Jay Martin, Louis Martin, Michael Colling (Katie), and Timothy R. Kacena (Lisa); 16 great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by four nephews: Mike, Brad, Kurt and Drew Stilkey and their families, all of California. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Anne.
