SIOUX CITY | Mabel Bruce Saleh, 100, of San Diego, CA and formerly of Sioux City died Nov. 6, 2015 in San Diego. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday with the family present 6-8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Mabel was born on January 26, 1915 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Katherine and Olaf Krone. She had one sister, Anna Marion Olsen, who has preceded her in death. Mabel was a lifelong resident of Sioux City until 2006 when she became a widow for the second time. She and Saint (John) Salah married in 1999. They enjoyed traveling together. Mabel married Charles J. Bruce in 1935 who preceded her in death in 1989. They had two children, Patricia and Joseph. After many years of being a housewife, Mabel became a permanent fixture at the Bargain Center in Sioux City plus the Senior Center formerly located on Pierce St. She was an integral volunteer who witnessed both places flourish over time. Many visitors to the Center had a quilt worked on or completed by Mabel. For twenty years, she was involved with the Sunshine News also. Her contribution of volunteering over thirty years added to the financial success of both places. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Lazzaro of San Diego, CA; son: Joseph Bruce of Morris, IL; five grandchildren, Gary and Terry Lazzaro, Joann Benz, Karla Stacy and Elizabeth Bruce; seven great grandchildren; Nicole and Nathan Benz, Devin and Austin Stacy, Taya Lazzaro, Anthony and Rebecca Lazzaro; two step children reside in Sioux City Frances Cummings, Bea Johnson and is pre-deceased by Jimmy Saleh. Her step grandchildren are Lisa Farmer, Lana Melroy and Lori Heim. Plus, four great grandchildren; Kelsey; Wynter and Quinn' and Micah.
