Donna J. Vondrak, 76, of Sioux City passed away Friday, November 06, 2015 at a local care facility. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 11,2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Roger Linnan officiating. Visitation is Tuesday, November 10, 2015 from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. To offer online condolences, visit www.meyerbroschapels.com Donna was born November 22, 1938 in rural Merrill, Iowa, the daughter of John and Esther (McCorkell) Clarey. She graduated from Liberty High School in Plymouth County. She received her Creighton Model Natural Family Planning Practitioner certificate from Creighton University. Donna married Phil Vondrak on June 4, 1960 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (Ellendale). To this union six children were born. In the 1970s and 80s, Donna was on the front line of the Pro-Life movement as a member of Birthright of Sioux City and Siouxland Right to Life. At Mercy Medical Center, she pioneered Fertility Care of Siouxland, a natural family planning program, and served as director and practitioner for over twenty years. She was also a member of the American Academy of Natural Family Planning Practitioners and served a term as president. In the 1990s, she also worked as a receptionist for Terra Industries. Donna loved music, reading, spending time with her family, and enjoyed travels throughout the US and Europe. Survivors include her husband Phil Vondrak; Children: Ann Marie (Mike) Skaggs of Sioux City, Chris (Joni) Vondrak of Sioux City, Elizabeth (Michael) Ashenuga of Boston, MA, John (Julie) Vondrak of Austin, TX and Mary Teresa (Brad) Doty of Kansas City, MO; 22 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; Sisters: Lu (Denny) Beck, Ann (Lee) DeRocher, Lucy (Emmett) Sitzmann, and Patricia Graham. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her son Matthew Vondrak; six brothers Richard Clarey, Jack Clarey, Ray Clarey, Al Clarey, Freddy Clarey, and Daniel Clarey; and in-laws Frank and Gertrude Vondrak, Nadine Clarey, Dwight Graham, Helen Clarey, Francis Vondrak, Lucian and Jim Maxey, Francis Vondrak, Ray Schroeder, Lloyd Casper, Donald Vondrak, Eldon Vondrak, Floyd Vondrak, Harold and Theresa Vondrak, Shirley Vondrak, Evelyn and Clark Hansen, Gladys Niles, and Gilbert Vondrak.
