Carolyn Catania, 71 of Sioux City, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at a local hospital. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend R. Paul Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Carolyn was born on December 20, 1943 in Cherokee, Iowa to Clifford and Lenora (Johnson) Bengtson. She was raised in the Aurelia area, graduating there before moving to Sioux City. She worked at Sioux Tools before her marriage to Gary Catania on January 20, 1963 in Cherokee. Carolyn babysat in her home for a couple years, and enjoyed being a homemaker to her own family. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, traveled with her husband, and was active in numerous groups and clubs in the Sioux City area. Carolyn was a proud member of Trinity Lutheran Church and volunteered at the Alzheimer's Organization. Carolyn is survived by her children Michelle Leigh of Sioux City, Amy Dokter and her husband Barry of Sioux Center, Iowa, and Bradley Catania of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; brother Robert Bengtson and his wife Linda of Aurelia, Iowa; sister Darlene Moss and her husband Frank of Sioux City; and grandchildren Amberly Scheffelman, Anthony Scheffelman, Jolan Dokter, and Gage Dokter. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gary in 1995, and infant brother Dennis.
