Douglas Charles Stewart, 62, of Sioux City went home to be with the Lord after a 22-year battle with colon cancer. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2015, at Sunnybrook Community Church with Rev. Jeff Ream officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial of his cremains will be at a later date in Highmore, SD. Arrangements are by the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. He graduated from high school in Bismarck, ND. He went on to graduate from University of South Dakota. He was united in marriage to Teri Lea Autry on November 26, 1983 in Sioux City, IA. He was an insurance agent for Legacy Financial. He enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, playing the guitar, coaching his boys in soccer and was a fantastic chef. Of all the things he enjoyed in his life, his wife and kids were the most important. He was a member of Sunnybrook Community Church where he was on the Worship Team. He is survived by his wife Teri Stewart of Sioux City; 2 sons Tyler (Mindy) Stewart of Sioux Falls, SD; and Alan Stewart and fiancé Emberose Mulhall of Sioux City; sister Susan (Steve) Ley of Dayton, OH; brother David (Bev) Stewart of Colorado Springs, CO; dear friend Jim Thomas of Climbing Hill, IA, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
